Privacy Policy

At Jusoor for Studies we are committed to protecting your privacy and respecting your personal data. This policy explains what data we collect when you use our website, how we use, store and protect it, and the rights available to you.

Who we are

Jusoor for Studies is an independent research institution specialized in producing political, economic and social studies and research, with a focus on Syrian and regional affairs. This policy applies to our website and its related services. The data controller for this website is Jusoor for Studies, and you can reach us by email at contact@jusoor.co.

Data we collect

We collect the data you voluntarily provide to us, in addition to limited technical data collected automatically:

  • Contact form data: when you contact us through the "Contact Us" form we collect your name, email address, message subject and message text.
  • "Write With Us" form data: when you submit a writing application we collect your name, email, field of specialization, short bio, a link to a sample of your writing (if provided) and your proposed article idea.
  • Newsletter data: if you subscribe to our newsletter we collect your email address to send you updates and analyses.
  • Automatic technical data: we may log your IP address, browser type and basic request data for site security and abuse prevention.
  • Usage and analytics data: through analytics tools we collect data about how you browse the site — such as pages visited, visit duration, device type, approximate location and traffic source — in aggregate form, to understand and improve site performance.

How we use your data

  • Responding to your inquiries and requests and following up with you.
  • Reviewing writing and research-collaboration applications.
  • Sending the newsletter and content you subscribed to receive.
  • Protecting the site from spam, fraud and abusive automated behavior.
  • Analyzing site performance and measuring engagement to improve our services.
  • Improving our services and the content of our website.

We do not use your data for any other purpose without your consent, and we do not make automated decisions that have legal effects on you.

Legal basis for processing

We process your data based on your consent when you submit forms or subscribe to the newsletter, and based on our legitimate interest in responding to your correspondence and protecting the security of our website.

Spam protection (Cloudflare Turnstile)

We use Cloudflare Turnstile to verify that you are not a robot when submitting forms. This service processes technical data, including your IP address, to distinguish real users from automated software. This processing is subject to Cloudflare’s privacy policy.

Sharing data with third parties

We do not sell or trade your personal data. We share it only with service providers we rely on to operate the site, and only to the extent needed for them to perform their services:

  • Cloudflare: for spam protection and automated verification.
  • Email provider: form messages are delivered to our inbox via an email service so we can process and respond to your correspondence.
  • Google Analytics: to measure and analyze site traffic. This processing is subject to Google’s privacy policy.

We may disclose data if required to do so by law, or to protect our rights and the safety of our users. Some of these providers may process data outside your country of residence; we make sure such processing is carried out under appropriate safeguards.

Data retention

We keep your data for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes described in this policy, or as required by law. We delete contact correspondence once it is no longer needed, and you can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time.

Analytics (Google Analytics)

We use Google Analytics, a service by Google, to understand how visitors use our site and to improve their experience. The service uses cookies to collect data such as pages visited, session duration, device type and approximate location. This data is processed in aggregate and we do not use it to identify you personally. This processing is subject to Google’s privacy policy, and you can disable tracking by installing the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.

Cookies

We use two kinds of cookies: essential cookies needed to run the site, store your preferences (such as language and dark mode) and for security purposes; and analytics cookies used by Google Analytics to measure performance. We do not use advertising trackers. You can configure your browser to reject cookies, though this may affect some site functionality.

Your rights

To the extent permitted by applicable regulations, you have the right to:

  • Access the data we hold about you.
  • Request correction or updating of your data.
  • Request deletion of your data.
  • Withdraw your consent or object to the processing of your data.
  • Unsubscribe from the newsletter.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at contact@jusoor.co and we will respond within a reasonable time.

Data security

We take appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data from unauthorized access, loss or alteration. That said, no transfer of data over the internet can be guaranteed to be absolutely secure.

Children’s privacy

Our website is not directed at children under sixteen, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If we learn that we have collected a child’s data without parental consent, we delete it.

External links

Our site may contain links to external websites and services (such as social media platforms). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites and recommend reviewing their policies.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our services or in legal requirements. Any change is published on this page along with an updated "Last updated" date above.
